What MAIF Policy is Right for Me?

When you’re searching for car insurance in MD, a MAIF policy can give you the coverage you want. But how much do you actually need? Which MAIF policy is the right one for you? Roadway Insurance Agency, Inc. provides all the information you need on different policies so you can make that decision.

Meeting Maryland Minimum Requirements

Regardless, you have to make sure your policy meets the Maryland minimum requirements for auto insurance. You’ll need to have coverage that includes $30,000 for bodily injury per person, $60,000 for bodily injury for two or more people, and $15,000 for property damage. Once you have that coverage, it’s up to you to decide if you want to add additional coverage to your plan.

Liability Insurance

Liability insurance can be obtained for bodily injury, property damage, or both. However, this doesn’t cover any damage to your body or property, no matter if you’re liable for the accident or not. It covers these things for the other driver involved in the crash. If you’re found at fault, it helps cover any medical expenses or damage to the car that the other party incurs.

Collision Insurance

Collision insurance may also be required for you under minimum requirements. However, it’s not required for every driver. If you’re driving a leased car or still have to make payments on the one you purchased, it’s essential. Collision insurance covers the monetary costs of any damage that’s done to your vehicle if it’s in a crash with another vehicle.

Comprehensive Insurance

If you’re worried about the damage being done to your car by something other than a collision, you’ll want to get comprehensive insurance. This is common for people that have to park their cars in an open area, where it could be prone to natural disasters, weather damage, or animal damage.

In addition, if you have to park on a busy street that could be open to theft or civil disturbances, you may also want this insurance. It’s important to weigh the cost and benefits you would get. If you have an older car that’s no longer worth much, you may not want to spend the money for comprehensive insurance.

Protection for Personal Injury

This will cover both you and any passengers in the event of a collision. It doesn’t matter who’s at fault in the crash. Any medical expenses that are brought on because of the crash will be covered.
